The Nigerian Bar Association felicitates with all Nigerian workers on the auspicious occasion and celebration of the 2016 Labour Day/Workers’ Day today, 1st May, 2016.
The 1st day of May every year is a special day set aside by the Federal Government to celebrate all Nigerian workers for their dedication to duty and immense contribution to the growth and development of the nation. As we mark this day with great pomp and fanfare that it truly deserves, we must commit to mind the various challenges which Nigerian workers face daily in the course of work and the discharge of their official duties. These include issues of Inadequate Training, Poor Funding, Housing, Transportation, Insecurity etc.
We must take advantage of this celebration to draw the attention of Government to these issues and several other factors that militate against the growth and development of our nation and ensure that drastic measures are taken to address and resolve them. Our workers must be provided with a conducive and safe environment within which to operate to ensure that they perform optimally.
The advancement and development of our country can best be achieved in a safe and conducive working environment. This should be our collective objective.
I wish all Nigerian workers a joyous Labour Day celebrations.
